Paris-based Outline has raised $3 million to build an AI-native financial planning platform for CFOs. Founded in June by Antoine de Mereuil and Hubert Jaouen, the startup connects accounting, payroll, billing, and CRM data so finance teams can automate forecasting, run scenarios, and answer questions that still require hours or days of spreadsheet work.
For all the attention AI has received in sales, marketing, engineering, and customer support, one of the company's most strategic functions has remained surprisingly old-school: Finance. Budgets are still built in spreadsheets. Forecasts are manually updated. And a seemingly simple question from a CEO – What happens if we hire 40 people next year? – can take days to answer.
These are the problems Paris-based startup Outline was set up to tackle.
Founded in June by serial entrepreneur Antoine de Mereuil and former Spotify and Alan engineer Hubert Jaouen, Outline has raised a $3 million pre-seed round led by Founders Future, with participation from 100in, Newschool and a group of finance and AI-focused business angels.
Despite only launching in June, the startup had already signed around 10 finance teams, including those at Zelty, Shares and HarfangLab, before the funding round was announced.
