French Tech Funding Wire January 19: Harmattan AI €184M Round Leads 14 Deals For €311.5M

Between Jan 13 and Jan 17, French Tech startups raising money also included FineHeart, SunLib, Enodia Therapeutics, MYCOPHYTO, Equitable Earth, Kepplair Evolution, Cementic, Revox, Sweetech, Viti-Tunnel, Campsider, Gamevestor, and Smartphone iD.

🧮 Data Point: 2025 Exit Blues

Avolta's FrenchTech Trends & Multiples 2025 tracked with most year-end wrap-ups in terms of VC investment numbers for Startup Nation. But the firm also has some Exit Data that reinforces that France's struggles in this domain, alas, remain all too real.

The advisory firm reported 408 exit transactions with disclosed exit value declined to €5.3bn. The number of deals was up, but the value was down, to the "absence of mega-deals this year," according to Avolta.

When it comes to exit, France is still playing small ball. Most exits are valued below €50m. International acquirers are capturing 80% of the exit value and 40% of exit volume, according to Avolta. Strategic acquisitions are the most common exits.

Of course, this is hardly a shocker.

Late last year, La French Tech Mission launched a national consultation on exits, acknowledging that while the French startup ecosystem has matured, it still struggles with the lack of clear and frequent exit opportunities. French Tech Director Julie Huguet argued that without more visible exits, venture capital recycling slows down and France risks losing key technologies and jobs to non-European buyers. The consultation aims to address a major gap: the lack of data, shared experience, and practical guidance on exits, from preparation to post-acquisition integration.

Whether it moves the needle, well...
